Blood Drive and Safety Fair - June 29th, 2018
The event will honor all first responders in our community and beyond, and will include a blood drive, safety fair, food, games, and entertainment for all ages.
The inspiration for this event developed when Brad Hunter, a 29-year veteran of the Oceanside Police Department, was intentionally hit by a driver last year while he was conducting a traffic stop on another vehicle. He was seriously injured with a shattered lower leg, had extensive reconstructive surgery and was placed in a medically-induced coma for 2 days due to a severe head injury. Today, Brad is in good health, and alongside his wife Vanessa, work to educate the community on the importance of public safety and the need for blood donations.
To be eligible to donate blood you must be at least 17 years old (16 year olds may donate with parental consent), weigh at least 114 pounds and be in general good health. Eligible blood donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment to give by visiting www.SanDiegoBloodBank.org/Donate or calling 1-800-4-MY-SDBB (1-800-469-7322).
